Show and Tell 19th December

Just because it was a Christmas party didn't mean we couldn't have some show and tell.

Both of these pics are the yarn from Ravelry swaps that Maree knitted up into scarves for Christmas gifts.

And these adorable little stockings are miniatures knitted by Fran, and very suitable to wear as a brooch for Christmas.

Christmas Party at the Beechworth Quilter's Cottage Friday Friendship Group p2

....Pam R, Bev, Pam J ...

and in our Kris Kringle were covered coathangers.
But the real hit of the night were our party hats. Better than ever a bonbon could include. Made by Pam R who brought one for each partygoer, this was the most interesting Christmas card recycling we had ever seen. So save your cards this year, look what wonderful hats they can be for next Christmas!

From the Granma's World label

The sewing room at Granma's World has been very busy indeed lately. After a delay for family gatherings it was top speed ahead for the new Christmas outfits.

For James, a pair of long reindeer shorts...
and how could I pass up this Tshirt when I had already purchased the fabric? It matches perfectly, although I had to get a size larger than I wanted.

And here is Georgie's outfit. Actually there is quite a bit of pink in the colours in the skirt, and if it's a zany colour match she will probably love it. This pattern is a Pink Fig Twirly Skirt, and the folk who have made it in one afternoon probably didn't have to match up the words 'merry christmas' around the bottom of the skirt!!! However it is really twirly which is the main requirement.
I mailed these Express on Friday, so please Mr Postman, take care of them and deliver them on Monday.

Still orange and will be into January

There are still orange happenings at Silver Creek and they will continue into January when I
h a v e to mail off my parcel to my secret Rainbow Swap spoilee.

Because I am computer-skills-challenged, I have to wait until my consultant (Penny) comes for a couple of weeks to grab an hour while the kids are occupied to have a lesson in posting photos elsewhere without embarrassing myself! However I have managed to maintain the blog and fix hiccups so I am sticking with the skills I have at present, and I'm happy I have advanced this far.

Tiger, the orange cat--bad attitude and all, he was making sure that I was too busy to do this bit of mending (moth holes from the plague over the past 2 years of drought).

And this is just my orange jacket, here for no reason except to show that I wear orange and I like
to be warm and comfortable.

Beechworth Handspinners Christmas Party

Our group Christmas party. As you can see we had a clown!

I had been to the airport with daughter and grandkids and of course their flight was delayed an hour and a half so I was last to have a meal. It was a great evening and the dhs enjoyed themselves also. We only had a couple of members who couldn't get there.
Our Kris Kringle gift swap was a handspun (if yarn), handmade Christmas tree decoration, and there was a collection of lovely items, knitted, beaded, felted.

Ooooo, ooorange

Here are some of the stunning orange lilies in my garden, courtesy of s-i-l Heather.
And thank you Heather for blurring the weeds prolifically rampant in the surrounds. The weeds are the next job after the grandchildren's Christmas outfits and the writing of the Christmas cards.

If only I could send these to my rainbow swap spoilee I know she would love them!

I know it's sewing day but...

Yes it was patchwork Friday, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow!
Leonie was sitting knitting--well just for the photo at least. And knitting with selvedges so she at least was using fabric!

Maree was knitting a scarf for a Christmas gift.
Pam was making a tea cosy from her birthday pattern book.

And me? Well I was knitting orange. There have been a few orange things turning up at our place recently. Hmmmm......maybe something to do with the swap craze going round at the moment. And a nice strong orange is a cheery colour, and oh-how-70s with the brown background!

Santa hats on the gatepost

Last year Maree had the good idea of putting Santa hats on the gateposts, so we did and I loved them. So much so that I snavelled up 4 sequined hats after last Christmas to have ready for this year. As we were celebrating a Christmas visit with Rick it was a good time to decorate the gateposts again. So Tim, Georgie (in Christmas skirt) and Maree started on this one...

Rick tackled this one himself while Penny and I took photos
Georgie and Uncle Tim put finishing touches with tinsel on this one...
And then the three wise monkeys sat on the fence! Oh yes, they are all true Davidsons!!!

Rick's Christmas visit 2008

Our eldest son Rick has been living overseas for over 7 years now, but he tries to come home for a visit somewhere close to Christmas. This year he came for 2 weeks at the end of November into December which was great because Nana (Melva) was also here for a visit from Qld and his sister Penny and her kids, Georgia and James were able to visit then also, and younger brother Tim was home from Uni.
James had a good time playing with his uncles, here he is with Rick (apologies for the quality of the photo, but it was too good a smile on both not to use it).

And we had the usual bbq on one of the only days that was warm enough at Silver Creek.
And the week before he arrived it was Rick's birthday so we had a Christmas dinner and also a birthday dinner.
Georgie is the best at helping you blow out candles, unwrap gifts and overall have a fun time! One of Rick's famous poses for the camera!

The scarf is finished!

It was midnight and Rick was leaving for Canada at 6am, but the scarf was finished and I was really pleased with how it had knitted up and it was lovely and soft.

There are things that turn out just like you had hoped and this was one of them. I'm sure it will be nice and warm for cold Vancouver. And I have enough left to make a hat, so don't hold your breath as I can't start it yet, but asap!

oh I adore cashmere and silk 2

On the swift to be wound into a ball of yarn...

and the finished balls, so soft and lovely, can't wait to knit...
