Ooooo, ooorange

Here are some of the stunning orange lilies in my garden, courtesy of s-i-l Heather.
And thank you Heather for blurring the weeds prolifically rampant in the surrounds. The weeds are the next job after the grandchildren's Christmas outfits and the writing of the Christmas cards.

If only I could send these to my rainbow swap spoilee I know she would love them!

I know it's sewing day but...

Yes it was patchwork Friday, but sometimes you just have to go with the flow!
Leonie was sitting knitting--well just for the photo at least. And knitting with selvedges so she at least was using fabric!

Maree was knitting a scarf for a Christmas gift.

Pam was making a tea cosy from her birthday pattern book.

And me? Well I was knitting orange. There have been a few orange things turning up at our place recently. Hmmmm......maybe something to do with the swap craze going round at the moment. And a nice strong orange is a cheery colour, and oh-how-70s with the brown background!

Santa hats on the gatepost

Last year Maree had the good idea of putting Santa hats on the gateposts, so we did and I loved them. So much so that I snavelled up 4 sequined hats after last Christmas to have ready for this year. As we were celebrating a Christmas visit with Rick it was a good time to decorate the gateposts again. So Tim, Georgie (in Christmas skirt) and Maree started on this one...

Rick's Christmas visit 2008

Our eldest son Rick has been living overseas for over 7 years now, but he tries to come home for a visit somewhere close to Christmas. This year he came for 2 weeks at the end of November into December which was great because Nana (Melva) was also here for a visit from Qld and his sister Penny and her kids, Georgia and James were able to visit then also, and younger brother Tim was home from Uni.
James had a good time playing with his uncles, here he is with Rick (apologies for the quality of the photo, but it was too good a smile on both not to use it).

And we had the usual bbq on one of the only days that was warm enough at Silver Creek.

And the week before he arrived it was Rick's birthday so we had a Christmas dinner and also a birthday dinner.

Georgie is the best at helping you blow out candles, unwrap gifts and overall have a fun time! One of Rick's famous poses for the camera!

The scarf is finished!

It was midnight and Rick was leaving for Canada at 6am, but the scarf was finished and I was really pleased with how it had knitted up and it was lovely and soft.

There are things that turn out just like you had hoped and this was one of them. I'm sure it will be nice and warm for cold Vancouver. And I have enough left to make a hat, so don't hold your breath as I can't start it yet, but asap!
